DVS 2207 Welding of Thermoplastics

Part 1: Welding of Thermoplastics: Heated tool welding of pipes, pipeline components and sheets made from PE-HD

Part 3: Hot gas welding of thermoplastics: Sheets and pipes

Part 4: Welding of Thermoplastics: Extrusion Welding Panels and Pipes

Part 5: Welding of Thermoplastics: Welding of PE Casing Pipes, Tubes and Tubular Components

Part 11: Welding of Thermoplastics: Heated tool welding of pipes, pipeline components and sheets out of PP

Part 15: Welding of Thermoplastics: Heated tool welding of pipes, pipeline components and sheets out of PVDF

DVS 2207 is a series of standards related to jointing thermoplastic materials. The first part of the standard addresses heated tool welding of PE-HD sheets, pipes and pipeline components. This part also covers heated plate butt welding, socket welding and also electro fusion welding of pipes. This standard sets forward the rules for preparing the components for welding, carrying out the actual welding procedure and methods for testing the welding itself.

The third part of the standard is dedicated to hot gas welding. Here the general principle of welding is preheating the material with hot gas (mainly heated air) and making the welding connection using welding wire and pressure applied by welding nozzle.

The forth part of the standard describes methods of extrusion welding of sheets, pipes and pipeline components. Similarly to hot gas welding the parts to be welded are preheated with hot gas. The actual weld is accomplished by carrying the welding filler directly to the welding groove. Plastic granules or welding wire is used as raw material for the welding filler.

In the fifth part of the standard addresses all possible welding types for polyethylene casing pipes, tubes and tubular components. This standard covers for example joints of the PE casing pipes, elbows, T-pieces, reducers and special parts with sleeves.

The eleventh part of the standard looks at heated tool welding of PP (including PP-H, PP-B and PP-R) sheets, pipes and pipeline components. This standard also covers heated plate butt welding, socket welding and electro fusion welding of pipes.

Heated tool welding of PVDF sheets, pipes and pipeline components is described in the fifteenth part of DVS 2207.
